On June 6th around the Arbor Walk Pond I noticed how a mustang grape vine (Vitis mustangensis)
was doing its grabby thing to the inflorescence and leaves of some cattails (Typha domingensis).

A Question

It's become de rigueur in the worlds of theater and cinema to avoid the word actress and to call all the people who act actors, whether they're male or female. Why, then, are yearly film and theater awards like the Oscars, the Golden Globes, the Emmys and the SAG Awards, still given out separately for the best actor and the best actress? One possible answer is so that twice as many people can get awards. But then what to make of the fact that in categories like best director and best cinematographer there's a single award that pays no attention to the sex of the person involved?

I did a little searching and turned up one relevant hit and another on that topic, which you're welcome to read.
