My friend of ten years, Michael Malice, just published a list of the Category 5 nightmares the Democrats have to deal with right now:
1) The Bidens: Jill Biden matters for the first time in her life. There's no incentive for her to cede power. And Biden's view is he kicked Trump out of the WH and therefore can do so again
2) Kamala: She can become president any minute now. Literally anything else is a demotion. She couldn't even make Iowa and is less electable than Biden. If the VP were a viable Plan B, Biden would have been gone already. They'd need to figure out how to get her to back down.
3) The Democrat elites: Other than Hillary--a previous nominee who lost yet with millions more votes--it would be almost impossible to designate someone else as the nominee and have all the other power-hungry sociopaths just smile and nod.
4) The base: They'll vote blue no matter who but they sure would need a reason why they aren't having even an ostensible say in the replacement--especially after years of being told democracy is under existential threat
5) The media: Yes, corporate journalists are overwhelmingly progressive. But they're even more interested in fantasizing about being the next Woodward & Bernstein. They now have to act like they didn't know this whole time, and every minor Biden misstep will be blown up
6) The donors: These types are used to some ROI. Much harder to get them to waste their money on a losing campaign than on a sure thing. Writing a check and getting a call from candidate Obama was a lot more impressive than getting Biden on the phone.
7) The ballots: It's too late to change the name on the ballot in some states. At the very least some Republican governors or secretaries of state would force the Dems to drain resources on legal challenges.
All of these issues are surmountable, none of them easily so. And every day that passes is one day harder to change course.
tl;dr We live in the best timeline
We will watch it all unfold. It is not an easy thing to change nominees at this stage, for a number of reasons, so my money is on Biden staying in and the Democrats saying "convicted felon" more often.
And I agree with Ed Dowd: it's bizarre that the Democratic rank-and-file needed to have it told to them that Biden is in bad shape and is unfit to run, and that they couldn't have come to this conclusion on their own on the basis of publicly available evidence.
On another matter (and prepare yourself for disappointment):
You probably know by now about the murder mystery dinner parties I've been holding around the country.
Well, in a recent episode of the Tom Woods Show I mentioned that for the Charleston, South Carolina mystery party we would be meeting in an actual castle just outside the city.
Unfortunately, that has fallen through. Boo. But the good news is this: I've booked for us what's been called the most luxurious suite in historic Charleston for that dinner party, and it's going to be stunning.
Don't worry: you don't have to do any prep, and it's a stress-free evening: the envelopes you receive at the event will tell you exactly what to do.
But what a nice evening out it is: a catered dinner enjoyed in a presidential suite, and a murder mystery that needs to be solved!
I've got four more of these parties lined up in the coming months, with still more to be scheduled in other cities in the future.
Check out our schedule and be sure to join me for one of these:
