It allows robots to move by expanding and contracting, like real muscles. It's soft, flexible, and cheap to produce. |
What do they do? |
The researchers demonstrated a worm-like robot navigating through pipes, an artificial bicep lifting a 500-gram weight 5,000 times without failing, and more. |
How cheap are we talking? |
Each robot costs about $3 in materials (excluding the small motor). That's a fraction of the cost of typical rigid actuators used in robotics. |
