It is redemptive, that light. Despite whatever failures, setbacks, or barriers you faced, that good golden light reminds you that you will make it.

I love red pen flourishes. The emphasis is on making every aspect of the book, including the lettering and margin decorations, as beautiful as possible. Gothic script, or Textura, the kind of lettering still most popularly associated with medieval manuscripts. Whenever I return to US, I’m struck with how dirty it is. Especially cities. But to come back from Rhone valley, it’s even more striking.

The Revelator is a mosaic I made in 2020, while I was grasping to hold on to the last moments with my father, and then after.
The revelator is a thing or person which reveals, as in The Book of Revelation.
Each tiny circle is filled with cross sections of glass threads that I pulled with fire. The longest I have ever spent on one piece of art.
Pain and Beauty, working together.
