🎛️ Why brand trust is declining and how marketers can earn it back

As MarTech editors, we live and breathe marketing technology as you would expect. Nevertheless it’s refreshing to occasionally look up from the latest composable CDP or genAI-powered chatbot and see a bigger picture — issues that affect marketers, even if not only marketers.

I had the opportunity to do so in my recent conversation with Phil Schraeder, CEO of GumGum, a conversation I expected to be about Pride, but which ranged over all kinds of intersectional topics, including Phil’s awareness that even as a gay man he still has white male privilege when he walks into an investor’s meeting.

Almost a sequel to that piece is my interview with Black woman founder Octavia Goderema which is both inspirational and hard-headed. She is in the middle of pre-seed fund-raising for her startup; she’s fully aware of the challenges she faces; but what way is there other than forward?
