Just a quick heads up to Colorado locals that I'll be doing a free mushroom presentation in Breckenridge at Summit County Library's South Branch this Wednesday, July 17 from 5-6 pm. It's essentially the same as my web class, Introduction to Mushrooms of Colorado and the Rocky Mountains. We will learn 5 major edible wild mushrooms of Colorado, including edible relatives, similar-looking mushrooms to avoid, and where and when to pick.

Wild Food Walk & Field Tasting in Fairplay
Sat, JULY 20 9-11 am ($50)
This 2-hour walk and tasting takes place in a town setting, where we will learn edible plants that grow in disturbed areas (weeds!) as well as native plants common to aspen groves and meadows. I will have signs with the plant names if you would like to use your camera to take notes.

Also I just wanted to thank everyone who bought beads and sent donations after my last appeal. Originally we thought we needed $5,000 for 5 weeks of radiation. Instead they decided to do it all in a week, so she wouldn't need to be in residence 6 hours from home for so long. It's not been easy, but the financial need is much reduced. Thanks, too, for your positive thoughts, prayers, and well wishes.
